My name’s Josh. And I’m a Creative Director with a career spanning 20 years in media.

Despite this, I’m still an optimist.

All my life I’ve loved telling stories. Here’s mine…

I cut my teeth as a Creative Producer in network television. Working in partnerships, I grew my commercial acumen, along with the expertise that I’ve developed to become a strong, broadly skilled creative. This included generating ideas from client briefs, concepting, pitching, copywriting, producing, directing, video editing and generally being a bit too “smart” for my own good. Hard lessons were learned. Then I got promoted…

As a Creative Director

I’ve spent the past 10 years working as a Creative Director. During the last 4, at WBD, my role as Commercial Creative Director ANZ saw me lead the team responsible for producing all commercial partnership campaigns in the region. I was also part of the Asia Pacific creative leadership team, collaborating with my counterparts in Australia, Japan, Singapore, India and South Korea.

As a Leader

Over the years, I’ve developed into a strong leader of creative teams. I know how to build culture where creatives thrive. And this has been the most fulfilling aspect of my career; mentoring and coaching talented creatives so that they can create exceptional work.

As a Storyteller

I’ve always enjoyed telling a good story. And boy, I’ve helped tell some great ones over the years. There’s the one about the comedian who bought his first house, or the fuzzy guy with a knack for destroying branding, and that time Jeremy Corbett crashed a funeral, or the…you know what? Just check out some of my work. You’ll get the general idea.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but “the whole package” about sums it up. The generalist nature of my positions over the years have given me an incredibly broad set of skills across creative strategy, idea generation and concept development, through to hands on production, production management, art direction, shooting and post production.

As a Multidisciplinary

As an Administrator

I’ve managed production and departmental budgets, designed and implemented workflows for greater efficiency and managed complex, multilayered campaigns. Not your typical creative. Bit of a clever cookie, really.

And Without Ego

You’re not going to find me throwing my toys at marketing, or getting into a shoving match with the suits. I don’t do big ego. I’m proud to have developed a reputation as a creative diplomat, focused on bringing teams together to find solutions. Besides, I like being owed favours.
